Just Henry

I have read Goodnight Mister Tom, Back Home and just started Just Henry all by Michelle Magorian. Fantastic writer, great stories for young and old and talks about how life was during WWII, great for the young to get a glimpse of how it was like to live not all that long ago but yet how easily people forget.

Can't wait to get deep into the book, Just Henry, I am only a few chapters in but the story starts by getting the reader straight into what is happening instead of long winded intros.

Great, easy read and no doubt will have some tear jerking moments.

A lovely cup of tea for one

I love coffee but there is a limit of one per day due to the effects of its high caffeine content but tea is unlimited and nothing beats a small pot of tea and a biscuit (I had already eaten it by the time I took the picture). If I can get five minutes of peace and quiet it is even better tasting. Normally when I get to my drink it is cold, but not today. Hoorah!

Reading Books and Knitting

Happy New Year 2013!

We have had a great start to the new year and long may it last. After going through some challenges in 2012 and working through a number of issues we seem to be getting on the right track. We have gotten through some tough situations over the last 3 years or so and I hope we never have to go through it again. To say the least it was stressful, but we have had lots of support and thank goodness too.

Christmas was a relaxed affair, the most relaxed I have been in a long time and I refused to overspend. We enjoyed going to a pantomime and spending time with family and generally very little rushing around.

As per a previous blog, I started knitting again and have managed to complete a circular scarf for my eldest and I am starting a new one for my youngest. I have found it very soothing and it is great to see the end result (as pictured below, modeled by my eldest). I needed something to do other than sitting around moping.

I have also been reading, lots of reading. I go through phases of reading a lot then reading nothing for months. I have read, again, Mister Tom, one of the best books I have ever read and now I am reading Back Home by the same author, Michelle Magorian. Next I will be reading Just Henry and I can't wait. I recently read War Horse and that is very good too, lots of tears shed but a great read for kids aged eight plus to the young at heart.

What have you been doing?
