The Splurge

Today I went into Superdrugs store and I found three transparent cosmetic bags which are useful for travelling as well as being able to see what you have instantly. These came to £5 opposed to Boots which is selling the same items for £8. I also went into Accessorize to get some new earrings. I don't tend to wear costume jewelry because my ears can get red an soar but sometimes it is worth it. A nice new shower gel that exfoliates £2.50 and some wipes for 99p. I also got a belt to go with my new suit, dress and skirt.

Market Town

Old market towns can have a wonderful history behind them as you can see from some of my images.

Every Wednesday and Saturday my local town holds a market. Once a month holds a farmers market and ever so often the French market comes to play.

Markets take me back to my childhood,  looking for fruit and veg, meat and crafts. The French markets are a particular favourite,  smelly cheeses, fresh baked bread, hand crafts and strings of garlic. So today I took a few pictures whilst bimbling in town most of which are on my instagram account.

These homes are dated back to the 15th Century, as per the blue plaque

The Old Drum. HG Wells was a regular, writing, drinking and eating in  this lovely pub. Since it has been taken over this is one of the best places to eat in the town.

Face Mask Friday

I am not sure which one to choose. The Cucumber cooling mask is lovely on the skin and if this warn weather continues I will be wearing it on a regular basis. But the cold nights may lay claim for this Friday to the Self-Healing Mask, afterall I have been hard at work, packing, bagging and clearing out my stuff ready for a move back to Canada. More will be revealed. So my posts may not be as regular due to the fact that I am moving and don't have all my stuff but I will try and do a few posts per week, even if it might be about the move. However, I do have a few exciting plans in place for once the stressful, yet exciting move is over and I have more time to talk.

I am keeping my Instagram up to date with lots of photos, so please join me.

Enjoy this weather my friends.

Glossybox April 2013 Review

It took a while before Glossybox dispatched these but I received an email yesterday and got it today and I have to say I am impressed. Two full sized products worth well over what I paid for the box. A spring theme as you can notice by all the pastel colours - lovely. I had read some bloggers who had received theirs early and I was not so thrilled to see what was in their package but I love what I have received so here goes:

Lovely packaging designed by Pearl Lowe

I have a number of hand creams to get through but I don't mind getting a product from Crabtree and Evelyne.

Illamasqua in a brown tone (Fidelity), can be used on eyes and lips, due to the colour I will only use this on the eyes. Full size. £13.00

This smells gorgeous good enough to taste, yum! Not that I need another body cream but this is lovely.

Love nail varnish and this is my first Essie product, this has a lovely sparkle to it very girly. Full size £7.99

Colour: We're in it together

SO ELIXIR PURPLE by Yves Rocher. A beautiful scent, quite strong  , best for an evening out or  to make a statement.
Love this. Don't normally like getting perfume samples but this is packaged nicely.

Glossybox leaflet. Not high quality at all. More like a info leaflet you pick up from the post office. It is not soemthing l would keep but I don't mind too  much.

Aussie Hair Products

I have a real problem with hair care products. I have super fine hair and heavy products can make my hair lifeless and dull and even look greasy. So for years I have tried many items and come I have come to the conclusion that the less ingredients the better.

VO5 oils used to be my favourite treatment but I have not used them for years. So to hear that Aussie has a new miracle treatments and I do like their products, I was intrigued to try. I have the 3 Minute Miracle conditioner bottle for a while and not even half way through., it lasts a good time. Since there are deals in many stores with Aussie products I bought a few.

Needless to say I really like Aussie, the shampoos and conditioners are great.  But:

The Ausomme Volume and Gloss is like any other hairspray, not sure how it makes the hair glossy. However, it does hold the hair in place, so can't fault it there.

The 3 Minute Miracle conditioner is OK, but for fine hair makes it look like its greasy and flat therefore perhaps not for me.

Aussie Luscious Locks leave-in conditioner is good, I guess it works it certainly is better for fine hair that does not need heavy conditioners.

I have still yet to find the perfect hair products for my hair type. If you have fine hair that goes limp in an instant and have finally found the miracle for this type of hair please let me know, I am all ears.

CC Cream by L'Oreal Paris

I have been waiting to get this for a few weeks but every-time I go and get it, it has been sold out. Now I have one and I can review it. Retails at £9.99 from Superdrug.

CC creams or complexion correction creams are the new BB cream. The L'Oreal creams come in three ranges, anti-redness, anti-fatigue and anti-dullness. I chose anti-redness, it starts off green and as you rub it in it has a nice tint and glow to it.
Starts off green and rub it in.

The nozzle is very slim so I hope this does not gloop otherwise it will be a pain to get it unblocked. Two to three pea sizes of the cream is enough to cover my face without it being thick. I do have dry patches on my skin so like any cream it tends to show more but with a bit of masking it is barely noticeable.

Nice tint to it even on fair skin like mine.
It does have a nice tint to it but can be a bit orange if over applied so be careful if you have pale skin tones. However, it does reduce redness, full marks for that.

Like the BB creams I apply the CC cream with my fingers working outwards, no need for brushes or sponges. It goes on well this way and is less messy and use less product.

All in all. this is a great product it does take away the redness due to the green colour in the product. Do I prefer it to BB creams? Only time will tell but I like this because it gives a nice summer bronzing effect, so I think this will be my summer go to product.

Sanctuary Spa

I received Sanctuary Spa products as a Christmas present with a number of body lotions and bath supplies. If I think of this brand I think luxury, relaxation and sophistication. The body creams have a lovely smell to them, yummy. Some are spicy and tingle when applied, these have ginger in them. The cocooning body lotion with the red lid is absolutely gorgeous and the smell blows me away, there is a hint of cedar wood in it.

I have already used up a number of the travel bottles which I will go through when I post my empties blog. Since they are empty its because I liked them, a lot.

There is a lot of product inside them and I still have quite a bit left and some barely touched since I have devoured my favourites.

Have you ever been to a Sanctuary Spa? I have and it was wonderful, I would love to go again (I must confess it has been about ten years since I went last). Lovely soft robes and slippers, a relaxed atmosphere and lots of treatments too.

You can't go wrong with Sanctuary Spa. xxx

Heading Out

Dare I say it, but there has been some glorious sunshine the past few days and I have been able to wear my sunglasses and my subtle shade of Chanel lippy that I bought at the Covent Garden store. I did a small post on it here. Love Rouge Coco lippy, it is moisturising and hard wearing.

A much needed note book, small enough to go in my pocket. I am constantly discovery great places or products and by the time I get home I forget what it was called, so a handy notebook and pens(s) is essential.

Faux fur coat with a spring scarf. OK, it is not quite warm enough to go without a coat and this is lightweight so looks great paired with jeans and heals.

Face Mask Friday

Yes, it is that time again, Face Mask Friday, and a hint of chocolate to see me through, welcome to the weekend!

I have done it before and I will do it again, here... but this is my last mask of the four I bought from the drug store and it is the anti-ageing mask. I think I will need to use this regularly before I see some drastic results but first let's try it, review it and see if it is worth getting again.

Charbonnel et Walker  Pink Marc De Champagne Truffles - oh yeah baby! Eight truffles in a perfectly small pink and gold box worth a small fortune but you know how I love my chocolate. I can't wait to get to eat these sugar coated, champagne filled, milk chocolate truffles. My mouth is watering just thinking about it but first I must wear my face mask.

Can the Bronzer come Out?

Bronzer by Sephora, perfect tan in a can. Spray and go for a healthy glow.

Ok, so it's not quite summer, frankly we are barely into spring but it is finally showing spring like qualities. Soon we can go to wearing cotton dresses and bare arms and legs, hooray! I maybe optimistc here but l think a little bronzer is safe, no?
