John Fluevog Shoes - Vancouver

I bought my first ever pair of John Fluevog shoes from the store in Gastown, Vancouver. I have been coveting this brand for a few years now. The shoes are not the cheapest on the market but my god are they comfy. I have not worn 4inch heels since before children, I just can't run around in them but these beauties, named Kendra, are so comfy, elegant and sophisticated that they can dress-up any outfit or go nice with a pair of jeans and I can walk in them!

There were so many shoes in store this season that I wanted to buy but for $319 (inc tax) for these babies I could not stomach purchasing another pair.

There is so much detail that go into these shoes. The soles are made of leather and are stamped with, "Elegant Conversation. Listen Loud. Speak Softly." The soles are signed and so is the leather on the outside of the shoe on the heal.

The blue storage box comes with a card and a shoe bag.

There is also a great selection of men's shoes too. I have been to some high-end suit shops in London on Saville Row, Mayfair. Fluevog shoes are on a par with the off-the-shelf shoes in this area. Quality products, excellent customer service, aftercare and the shoes come with a one-year warranty too.

My new shoes have these amazing shaped heels, they look amazing when they are on, elongating the leg (I am vertically challenged so this is a bonus). They are thick and provide stability and comfort for shopping trips or a function where standing is needed for long periods.

I highly recommend visiting the store and investing in a pair of Fluevog shoes.

Ipsy Glam Bag October 2014 Review

It has arrived; my October Glam Bag from Ipsy. What I love the most about this subscription is the makeup bags, I can use them for all sorts of storage and also for going out. I tend to have large make-up bags to home my goodies but nothing to take out with me so this is a bonus. The makeup bag in this months package is a little bigger than the September issue and I love the bright colour.

The Doll10 highlighted is lovely, it adds a nice sheen to cheek bones. Easy to apply, I used my fingers and dabbed it into the areas I wanted highlighting. I would buy this one.

The ModelCo Mascara is very nice and I am impressed with this. I am not sure it gives volume unless I really layer it on, like most mascaras to get volume several coats are needed. However, I like this because it is nice and light with a nice brush and it doesn't smudge.

The City Color Be Matte lipstick in Cappuccino is a nice neutral colour and being matte it lasts longer. My husband says he hates the glossy ones, he thinks they look sticky and the last thing he wants is lipstick on his face too! As it happens I prefer matte finishes also. Never heard of this brand before. One thing I will say is; the best matte lipstick I have ever invested any money in is Chanel. It stays on longer and looks and feels silky and luxurious. The City Color brand is great for on the go, everyday use.

The Figs & Rouge handcream all the way from the UK (yeah!) smells gorgeous, I am familiar with this brand. I like the mango smell, hmmm! The cream feels a little watery at first but soon sinks into the hands and smells divine. This is a great addition to my bag with the colder days ahead. The handy travel size makes it easy to take out and about.

The makeup wipes that I have yet to use and will only use when I am on the go and need to wipe away the makeup quickly is a nice addition too.

Not sure why this one is called Beauty Candy, somehow it doesn't really fit with this time of year or the products but there you are.

The neat little package is a great one this month.

Hair Dressers

I don't know about you but finding a hairdresser that you like and can be loyal to is a real challenge. My hair type is easy to work with but the amount of people that have screwed it up over the years is astonishing. Many times I have left a salon looking like I have aged ten years or a cut that washes terribly and cannot be styled at home. A few years ago I had a cut that made my hair frizzy, it was a first for me. However, I finally found myself a good hair stylist, she has the same hair type as I and we both liked the same looks so she could easily cut and blow dry my hair without thinking too much.  Yesterday I called up for a last minute appointment only to discover she has moved onto pastures new. Noooooo! All was not lost, the lady who I was referred to was even better. She cut it and styled it in a way that suits me. She listened to what I wanted and shaped it along the way until we decided it was finished. In fact she was positively lovely and easy to talk to (the talking is the bit that kills me at hairdressers, I feel obliged to chat even though I prefer not to in most cases). So where did I go? I went to Luxe Hair Salon in Port Moody. The staff are friendly, the customer service is excellent, they will hang up your bag and coat which is out of view and located at your station. They have a varied drinks menu and it is very relaxed.

So here is the cut and I am very, very pleased with it, indeed.

It is that time again. The Ipsy Glam Bag for October is ready to be shipped and I have to sneak-a- peek.

I am loving what is in this so far. The lipstick looks nice, the blush too. I am ready for a new hand-cream and a mascara is always handy. The cleansing cloths are great for when I am out and about.

I won't actually receive this for at least ten days but I am excited to get my hands on it.
